Day 151 of 2017

Since the sun is out,
I thought I would do some pattern assembly with the original light box.

Day 150 of 2017

Lately I have been struggling with a fabric decision.
I think I may go an entirely different direction.

Day 149 of 2017

The newest addition to the quilt along blocks, skinny arrows, is complete.

Day 148 of 2017

My quilt along blocks are going a little slowly this week.
I'll have them done though.
Deadline is tomorrow at midnight.

Day 147 of 2017

Today we had a family gathering.
I didn't really take any pictures.
Sometimes when I want to participate, have fun and enjoy the people around me,
I forget to take pictures.
I guess it makes me feel more connected and less like a spectator.
Is anyone else like this?

Luckily, I took a picture of one of the cicadas that are emerging in our yard this morning.
These are quite different from the large green ones we see every year.

Day 146 of 2017

I saw my first cicada shell of the year today.
There were actually three within one square foot on these Lilies of the Valley.

Day 145 of 2017

We might be seeing some of our favorite little people soon
so I am making sure that some of our favorite puzzles and books are ready.

Day 144 of 2017

I don't remember showing this.
I started it a bit ago and it is going slowly
as I usually grab it for a car project.
Most times I fall asleep and don't accomplish much.

Day 143 of 2017

I got a great start on the pink and green quilt today.
The pink is almost complete.
After finishing that, I will switch to green thread for the remaining sections.
If all goes as planned, this one should be finished by the end of the day tomorrow.

Day 142 of 2017

I am loading this quilt on the machine today so I can start quilting it tomorrow.
The top has been done for years.
It's time.

Day 138 of 2017

The neighbors down the street have different flowers than I do.
This one really caught my eye.

Day 137 of 2017

I tried to get an anniversary photo before we headed off to dinner.
This is my favorite selfie-fail.
42 years and counting.

Day 136 of 2017

Mom is working on her knitted characters for the craft fair in October.
This guy still needs arms, a collar and a few little details.

Day 135 of 2017

My blocks for the first week of the quiltalong are done.
I love my little birds.
QAL is Urbanologie by Sew Kind of Wonderful.

Day 134 of 2017

When asked what I'd like to do for Mother's Day,
I said I'd like to work on the front yard since all the kids are out of town.
(It is way overgrown and in a bit of disrepair.)
Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better.
Fireball and I are pooped.

Day 132 of 2017

M and I visited the Decorator's Showhouse.
This year's house is the childhood home of Kurt Vonnegut.
Although pictures were not allowed inside,
I loved the designs in the brickwork near the front door,
so I got a picture of that before putting my camera away.
Quilts, anyone?

Day 131 of 2017

I had intended to take a picture of the iris buds near the garage
that are just showing a little color at the top
and writing a caption about how it would be any day now that they will be blooming,
but when I got close to the buds to get the shot,
I spied these two hiding just around the corner.
So I guess any day now is today.

Day 130 of 2017

I am planning to join in with a quilt-along (QAL) online.
Here is my fabric pull.

Day 129 of 2017

Today's quilting attempt worked much better,
although I still had trouble seeing the stitching
with the light from the machine creating a kind of whiteout effect.
I used some cardboard and painter's tape to cover the lights
which helped enough for me to get the job done.

Day 128 of 2017

I have set up these four small pieces of fabric to quilt all on the same backing.
I started this evening in the upper corner but had to stop.
With the printed fabric and thread that blends right in,
I could not see at all what I was quilting.
I guess I will have to wait until morning
and see if the daylight through the windows helps.
I will show you what the quilted pieces are for once they are recognizable.

Day 125 of 2017

I really got my sewing on today.
Put these twenty-four double sided Christmas napkins on the "done" list.

Day 124 of 2017

It was cold and rainy all day with no sunshine whatsoever.
It will likely be the same tomorrow and into Saturday.
I made my own sunshine today by organizing my Tombow markers.
ROYGBIV
I just noticed that I didn't organize the bottom row of smaller markers.
I'll fix that.

Day 123 of 2017

Two days.  Six different stores.  No frozen gluten free pie crust to be found.
Day three.  Store number seven.  Success.
Re-rolling dough for top crust.  Fail.
Chicken pot pie.  Delicious.

Day 122 of 2017

Tonight I tried to show my fellow quilters
that it really isn't that hard
to plan a quilt that contains blocks of all different sizes.
These blocks are from an exchange 23 years ago.
I was not a part of the exchange
since I joined the group just after they started it,
but I have plenty of other sets of exchange blocks from the group
from the years that followed.
Maybe it's time to give some of them some attention.

Day 121 of 2017

I finished my first mood mandala in my Bullet Journal.
Overall I am pretty happy with it.
I got a little forgetful toward the end of the month
so the black line work isn't as fancy as earlier.
It is also a bit bright and very yellow for my taste.
Expect to see a different palette this month.
